The localE Declaration

localE exists to help communities understand their own place better — using evidence, local knowledge and artificial intelligence as tools for human judgement.

Independent by design

localE is independent, non-commercial and non-party-political. It exists to help communities understand their own place using evidence, local knowledge and artificial intelligence as tools for human judgement.

Evidence matters

Claims should be open to question and uncertainty should be stated rather than hidden. AI is a tool, not an authority, and local knowledge should be considered alongside published evidence.

Communities decide

localE does not make democratic decisions for communities. Evidence informs. People decide. Failure can be useful evidence, significant errors should be acknowledged and corrected, and money must not buy influence over localE's work.

Evidence informs. People decide.
Better access to knowledge should widen democratic choice, not replace it.
